I just had the chance to stream this album in it’s entirety, and I must say it’s another dope release from Sene. This particular track features Blu – but check out the whole album if you get a chance! It’s called ‘BrooklyKnight,’ available on iTunes.

In honor of what appears to be a great underground album from the South Philly MC (I haven’t had a chance to listen to it in full or in detail yet), here are a few tracks off the recent release ‘Plateau Vision, available on iTunes.

“Big Sur”

“Still I Hear The Word Progress” featuring Styles P

Now Playing :: Mos Def & J. Dilla :: Sunshine Screwface

"... round, and round, and round it goes ..."

Searching around on YouTube for a track I am planning on using in another post sometime, I came across this *NEW* (as of March 2012) Mos Def – I mean Yasiin Bey track produced by none other than the legendary J. Dilla! I’ve not heard this before today, no idea how I missed it but I do know it’s as-yet-unreleased and considered a “freestyle,” that I’m sure will make his next album.

There are some older live versions on YouTube but they sound terrible as they’re probably from someone’s iPhone. This video is pretty good quality, so you get a feel for the dopeness of the track. Mos is one of my favorite artists and it’s hard to think of anything he’s done that I haven’t truly appreciated. Check out the track, below.

New on iTunes :: Apollo Brown & OC :: Trophies

One of my most anticipated in 2012!

from MMG bandcamp page;

“Trophies” is 16 tracks of mass appeal set in motion by two different eras of hip hop’s elite. Detroit producer Apollo Brown lays the foundation, and the legendary OC constructs the vocals. Arguably, their best album respectively, “Trophies” is straight to the point hip hop; no frills, no preservatives, not even a single feature. Just OC at his finest and Apollo once again commanding no disappointments.

Today’s society is fascinated with “Trophies”. Not just a shiny cup or figurine atop a wooden platform, but the superficial earnings as a result of one’s recognition. Prestigious awards, fancy cars, nice jewelry, and beautiful women, are all coveted “Trophies” of the present day. They seem to be the preferred end result of our hard work. Everyone NEEDS to be recognized for whatever their achievement may be, in order to feel that he/she made a mark in this world. And in order for our recognition to be proper, we NEED an award, or a material object to help reassure us that we did something. But why?

Listen to the album. Enjoy the music.
Consider the real Trophies.

Two new songs (not on the mixtape) on this new EP to hit iTunes this month – grab those at least and support KRIT’s brand of raw, unadulterated southern hip hop.

“Man on Fire” & “Sideline.”

*BONUS**

Video from “4EvaNADay” Theme, off the mixtape.

Now Playing :: Oddisee :: All In A Day’s Work

Oddisee is one of very few producer-rappers who does both well, although he doesn’t produce this track.

Stay with me here – JR&PH7 are the producers responsible for this instrumental, and Oddisee kicks his raps over their instrumental on “The EP” (which came before the newest album from the duo, called “The Update”). The instrumental is fire, I love the sample / scratches during the hook & Oddisee is one of DC’s finest MCs.

“I am a artist, I don’t got time for the goons & the goblins, buffoons with goblets, in the club with harlets / staring at these niggas like these niggas retarded / go figure it’s reciprocated but look, niggas hated regardless …”
