I haven’t posted much lately, because I haven’t been inspired by many new releases – and I’ve been listening to the same couple albums over and over, mostly from last year. (Pharoahe Monch’s “WAR,” The Roots “Undun,” Wale’s “Ambition” to name a few). Not much anticipated material came out in the first two quarters of the year so far – but next week I’ve got two albums on my list to pick up.
First up is Oddisee’s new album – the DC alum has had his fanbase patiently waiting for this one, a “true” solo album for a while. His work with Diamond District, and on other artists’ projects, plus the compilation albums and insturmental EPs he’s released have served as a proper appetizer for what I feel will be an album of the year contender.
Next, Curren$y drops another should-be-audio-dope album called “The Stoned Immaculate.” His past couple years I’ve called him the hardest working man in Hip Hop, releasing dope album after album after mixtape. It’s exciting to see artists’ still hungry after releases and Curren$y is the epitome of that exact hunger. Action Bronson, to me – is there as well.
Having said that, here’s a new project (free) from tabi Bonney, called The Endless Summer. I’ll be listening to this over the weekend and during downtime from the above mentioned two albums on Tuesday!
